   For rooms go to AsiaRooms.com they have some of the best deals and will take credit card. If you want to travel in Thailand check AirAsia.com you can fly for as little as $10 one way plus taxes you can also use credit card and if you check travel dates ahead of time you get the best deals, one day and time maybe $10 but if you wait then it may go up to $40. I have been living in Thailand and Cambodia for the last 3 years and these are great starting points. Bangkok is very easy to get around just get a hotel near the sky train or subway,they are cheap and easy with lots of signs in English and people to help you and you can do a lot of sightseeing and shopping and see movies. The sky train will take you to the river where you can take water taxies that are also cheap…look out for ones that want 500 or 1000 baht….the ones you want only cost 10 to 20 baht. From the river it is a short walk to Wat Pho or the Royal Palace and Wat Arun you can also get to the Royal Barge Museum where the King has his boats. The sky train will take you to the Ekamai bus station where you can get a bus to Pattaya for 100 baht, the baht is 37.5 to one US dollar,. Pattaya is a good place to go if you want a beach and it is very easy to get around in as they have 5 baht taxis, little pickup trucks with canopies, that go on all the streets. You just flag one down and pay when you get off so carry 5 and 10 baht coins. Pattaya has lot of hotels starting at 300 baht a night and up and they are the best deals in Thailand. There are lots of bars and ladies if you want night life and I think they are better and safer than Bangkok. If you want to swim in a pool look for Mike’s Shopping Mall which is between Beach road and 2nd road and go to the roof…this is kind of a secret place with large pool and great view of Pattaya. Chiang Mai is a nice place but hotels will cost more and you need to fly there with only 10 days in Thailand and you want to go up the mountain to see the famous Wat, sorry forgot how to spell it, but this is the best Wat I have seen in Thailand. People are very helpfull so just ask for help, I have had people get other people who speak english to help me so enjoy. If you want to see photos send me your email address.

   Bangkok and Pattaya are interesting, but you got to hit a beach. I’m thinking either Ko Samui, Phuket, or Pangan. It’s a different atmosphere.

   you must go to the grand palace, it is even better to go down to the river and get a boat to it. beach resorts, the best place is hua hin, it is about a 3hour drive south from Bangkok but definitely worth a visit.
   i dont no anything about you, so iam not sure if you would like afternoon at the oriental hotel.
   there is also loads of good shops and restaurants

   Bangkok – Chatuchuck (sp) Market (day market) or Suan Lum Night Bizarre. The Grand Palace. One of the Buddhas. Not much else. Bangkok isn’t that nice.

   Koh Samui and Hua Hin are the best beaches – beautiful, clean and tourist friendly.

   Chiang Mai has the best shopping (cheap!) and the most amazing factory tours (silk, umbrellas, games…the list continues) You can also ride elephants and do bamboo rafting in Chiang Mai. That’s my favorite place.

   In Bangkok, The Bangkok Christian Guest House is great – clean and close to the Skytrain. I don’t know about the other places.
